Terms of Use
Terms of Use
SellPermit provides source-backed regulatory registry evidence for business research and review—not legal clearance.
Version 0.7.1 · September 21, 2026. These terms apply to SellPermit’s free informational service.
1. Using the service
Please read these terms before using SellPermit. By using the service, you agree to use it within the scope and permitted uses described here. If you do not agree, do not use it. The free checker does not require an account. These terms do not grant paid, API or enterprise access.
2. What SellPermit provides
SellPermit compares user-supplied brand names against retained, dated regulatory and registry evidence. Current checker coverage is Illinois battery stewardship only, not every Illinois plan, product requirement or US law. Results depend on the input, retained sources, matching rules and reviewed plan-status evidence available to the service.
SellPermit is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Use of this service or correspondence with us does not create an attorney-client relationship. We do not certify products, sellers or transactions.
3. Understanding results
LISTED: A reliable name match was found in eligible retained registry evidence associated with a reviewed, approved Illinois stewardship plan. Plan approval is not product or seller approval. This match does not establish that a transaction is lawful or that all requirements are met.
REVIEW: The name match or plan-status evidence is insufficient for an automated registry conclusion. Human review is needed. Review the name and dated source evidence. This result does not determine whether a sale is lawful.
NOT_FOUND: No reliable name match was found in the currently eligible retained registry evidence. Absence from this evidence does not establish that a product or sale is prohibited or noncompliant.
“Eligible” describes which retained evidence qualifies under SellPermit’s reviewed plan/source rules, not eligibility to sell a product. Reviewed approval concerns the stewardship plan, not approval of a product or seller. Integrity checks, hashes and verified aliases do not verify legal compliance.
4. Your information and responsibilities
Use the brand as labeled and check your input for errors. A name match does not verify the identity or classification of your actual product. You remain responsible for determining applicable obligations, checking relevant official sources, satisfying requirements beyond registry participation, and obtaining qualified advice where needed. Do not rely on a result as the sole basis for a sale, withdrawal from sale or other legal decision.
5. Independent service and external sources
SellPermit is an independent service, not Illinois EPA, Oregon DEQ or any government agency. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by those agencies or The Battery Network. Links and source attribution identify evidence; they do not imply a partnership or endorsement.
Government and other third-party sources may be incomplete, delayed, changed or erroneous. A retrieval date records when evidence was obtained, not a promise of its legal effect today. Monitoring does not continuously revalidate approval, and a reviewed plan record may remain in use until a later reviewed change. Consult the linked official sources when current status matters. External sites have their own terms and privacy practices.
6. Availability and warranties
The service and source information are provided as available. To the extent permitted by applicable law, SellPermit makes no warranty of completeness, accuracy, timeliness, uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular purpose. No result guarantees that a transaction, product or seller complies with law. Sources and functionality may change, and maintenance, upstream failures or other interruptions may prevent a result. An error or unavailable source is not a negative registry finding.
These limitations do not remove rights or obligations that applicable law does not allow to be excluded. They do not replace SellPermit’s responsibility to investigate defects and corrections.
7. Corrections
Report suspected errors to contact@sellpermit.com with the program, source link, relevant result or snapshot date and a brief explanation. Reports trigger review against authoritative source evidence; user assertions and acknowledgements do not automatically change results or plan authority. We cannot promise a particular review outcome or correction deadline. Please avoid unnecessary personal, customer or confidential information.
8. Permitted use and intellectual property
You may use the public service for business research and review and share limited results with their source, dates and limitations intact. Do not present results as government certification or legal clearance. SellPermit’s software, design and original content are distinct from third-party source facts, documents and trademarks; this page grants no rights in third-party material beyond those available from its rights holder or applicable law.
Do not interfere with security or availability, bypass access controls or rate limits, submit malicious content, or use automation that disrupts the service. The public interface does not grant paid/API access or permission to bulk redistribute source documents. Access may be restricted to address abuse or security risks.
9. Privacy, changes and contact
Read the Privacy notice for application processing, infrastructure logs and email handling. Changes to these terms will be published here with an updated version and date. Review the applicable version when using the service. Updates do not purport to retroactively waive rights.
