- ✓Flag uncertain names for human review
Illinois · First program
Check the brands you carry against a dated snapshot of the registry source linked by the Illinois EPA—and inspect the dated source evidence used.
The registry context
01
The Act addresses producer participation beginning January 1, 2026, while its retailer provision begins July 1, 2026. SellPermit stores those as separate date-only facts.
Section 20 also provides retailer protection where the Agency website listed the producer or brand as a participant on the date the product was made available for retail sale. That makes the source and date of a registry observation important—not just the current search result. SellPermit does not determine whether that protection applies to a particular transaction.

02
SellPermit checks whether a reliable name match has registry support from a reviewed, approved Illinois stewardship plan. Illinois may have multiple plans: one operator’s brand feed is not assumed to be the complete statewide landscape.
Submitted plans and public notices may provide useful context, but they do not establish approval. Pending amendments are tracked separately from an approved base plan. Source coverage is evidence-based, dated, and may be incomplete.
Approval refers to a stewardship plan, not approval of a product or seller. A name match does not establish that a transaction is lawful or that labeling, product scope, or other obligations are satisfied.
Results describe retained evidence, not real-time government status. Sources may change after retrieval; monitoring does not continuously revalidate plan approval.

03
A reliable name match was found in eligible retained registry evidence associated with a reviewed, approved Illinois stewardship plan.
The name match or plan-status evidence is insufficient for an automated registry conclusion. Human review is needed.
No reliable name match was found in the currently eligible retained registry evidence.
Important: “Not found” reports absence from SellPermit’s retained source coverage. It is not a legal conclusion about a product, producer, or seller.
